more stuff for the final i have in less than 45 mins.!

Inflammatory Response
1. Microbe penetrates the barrier
2. Capillaries dilate due to C3a and C5a;
3. Mast cells release cytokines
4. Blood flow increases(redness/rubor), causing heat(calor)
5. Capillaries increase permeability--> edema or "tumor"-->pain(dolor)
6. White blood cells exit capillaries & gather at injury site

Micro-freakin-biology final...

how i loathe thee...
antibiotics

Penicillin binds PBPs; inhibits the formation of bridges in peptidoglycan, its bacteriocidal, spectrum/organism=Gm+, Inhibition=Beta-lactamases; Efflux of drug; Porin size(Gm-), PenG is given IV and IM PenV is given PO 1st generation and effective vs growing bacteria

Methicillin binds PBPs, its bacteriocidal, its spectrum/organism= Gm+, inhibition= Beta-lactamases; Efflux of drug; Porin size(Gm-), it is resistant to inactivation by penicillinase of CA-MRSA

Ampicillin & Amoxicillin bind PBPs they are bacteriocidal, spectrum/organisms=Gm+; growing E.coli, Proteus, inhibition= beta-lactamases; Efflux of drug; Porin size(Gm-), given PO and is 2nd generation

Carbenicillin & Ticarcillin bind PBPs , its bacteriocidal, spectrum/organisms= Gm+ & Gm-, include Pseudomonas, Inhibition= beta-lactamases; Efflux of drug; Porin size(Gm-), given PO and is 3rd generation

Monobactams (Aztreonam) bind PBPs, bacteriocidal, spectrum/organism=Aerobic Gm-; Enterobacteriaceae, resistant to beta-lactamases, narrow spectrum given to those allergic to penicillin

Vancomycin Affects the (D-ala)2 chain in growing cells, its bacteriocidal, spectrum/organism= MRSA, Clostridium difficile doesn't cross the outer membrane of Gm- bacteria, drug of last resort except for MRSA and AAc(antibiotic associated colitis)

Isoniazid affects mycolic acid synthesis, bacteriocidal, spectrum/organisms=growing Mycobacteria, decrease drug uptake, resistant to tuberculosis, given PO 1st line tuberculosis treatment and is hepatotoxic

to be continued...i'm hungry very hungry...and i think i may have stumbled upon a miracle...

When all else fails..

..sing...
Sometimes no matter how hard you try
its not enough.

People come into your life just to walk right away.
Its a hurt everyone meets.
A pain that never dulls.
How do we prepare..
How do we
know.
Just be ready,
its all unknown
No one is who they seem
There are flaws that we all learn to hide.
You can want and hope someone is the person
you thought they were from the start.
No matter how well you know them
It is still a surprise when
They bring to you the hurt that everyone meets
A pain that never dulls....
-note:not finished and will still be revised at a later time-

sometimes emotions find words

So....met this really cool guy and for some reason i sang and sang and sang as he played his guitar...
it was weird i don't sing in front of people, i'm not great, so its something i do for myself.
talked the next day and sent him some lyrics i had written once. he put some music to them and i really can't wait to hear it although there is a chance its not what i had in mind at all. Just the fact that someone liked what i had to say is exciting.
I can't help myself in thinking
I've been in this place before
And time and time again
I'm thinking it over
but these feelings aren't changing
I'm falling apart
and i need
someone to take me away
take me away
take me away to a place where i can finally breath
out of this situation
out of this situation
Let me feel something again
I want to be able to let go of this pain
Forget my difficulties
and live a dream i shouldn't hold on to
the unknown sorrows that tear me up inside
they're bringing me down
they're bringing me down
they're bringing me down til i cry
for the very last time............

catching up

Two of my friends left corpus today. One is now a little over 200 miles away and the other just under 2000. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand i'm sad that I can't just run into them or meet them somewhere, on the other hand i'm jealous, because they will be getting new experiences. :p
Good luck my friends and have the time of your lives, love ya'll.
As for myself, I'm still living in my hometown, but with changes of my own since i have created this blog. I am now 20 and about to embark on my junior year of college and am majoring in biomedical sciences. To do what? Well hopefully to become a doctor.. I now have twin sisters, Sophia and Sara, who will turn 1 on Sept. 30th. Their addition makes us 11 kiddos. I have been diagnosed with pancolitis..a form of ulcerative colitis. Basically this disease sucks...it has its better days. As for today...its kinda wearing me out and frustrating me. No fun. It could have been worse though and at least i will probably never get fat because of it, gotta be positive, right? :) I am trying to get back into running, i can't wait to get involved in runs again, hopefully quite a few for good causes., but for now i'm just conditioning my body for it. I've met so many new people and gotten closer to others i've known from a distance, i've lost contact with a few as well...but only God knows how these relationships will pan out. much love & peace.
